READY FOR A NEW PHASE IN LIFE

So you stayed home to raise your children and you don't know how to get back into the fast lane of the working world. Or have you been at the same job for so many years you forgot why you even wanted that job? There are many reasons that prompt us to change our career paths or occupations. Weather you are the person that stayed home to care for the home and kids or the person who has been stuck at the same place of work for many years, the endless possibilities that have changed in the job market can be quite overwhelming.

So where do you start? I have pointed out 10 simple items to consider to get you started in right direction:

1. What do you want to do, your dreams or passions?

2. What are your income requirements?

3. What are your talents or skills?

4. Are you willing to return to college or obtain additional training for this move?

5. How motivated are you to making this change a positive reality?

6. What is your time frame for making this change?

7. What benefits will you be loosing or gaining by leaving your current job now? Later?

8. What are your hobbies ?

9. How much longer will you employed before retirement?

10. Do you want full time or part time?

By answering these questions honestly you have done most of the work in determining if you should make this important change in your life. The hardest part of making any change in life, especially a big one like this, is to get over the fear and anxiety that comes with making changes. People are often afraid to take the chance or risk because the talk themselves out of a "fantasy" or silly idea and decide it's ok to just stick it out and stay where they are, things really aren't that bad or I really don't need to leave the house because, who would take care of it? Would you consider working out of your home?

Use this tool to get you started, it goes all the way back to your childhood.

Sit down with a pen and paper and think about your entire life. As a child, what was the first occupation that you considered? How long did that dream stick with you? If you wanted to be a fireman and save lives, is it possible that you might still secretly desire to do that? So why can't you? What do you think your true calling in life is? Continue through your life until today, think about things you've done that you've really enjoyed and job positions that you've thought about doing. Think about what you like and dislike about your current job, chances are you could find a new one that contains the parts you like.

Look into the current job market and see what is new out there. Think about your job skills and how they relate to the new market. Consider going back to college or finishing your degree to continue your education or what you already started.

Making changes in life can be hard and scary at times. The main idea to remember about the job you perform or are considering is that is should be something you really want to be doing. Something you are passionate about or something you are good at. Don't be afraid to make the change. Talk to people you know who have changed jobs, I would bet most of them don't regret it at all and are really glad they did it.
